Here is a guide to some of the very delicious, spicy, varied, and flavourful food that you can find in Korea. I have spent over two and a half years trying all kinds of food, but still find new dishes all the time! There are not many things I won't try, from sea snails to sea acorns to raw octopus, but I've not tried the Dog, or Bull's Balls... and probably won't...
Even the same dish can be different in each region. Gimchi is served everywhere, but has a different taste in every single restaurant. Some dishes will be extremely spicy, and others will catch you unawares!
With every meal in Korea, you will get some side dishes, from the simple to the extravagant! At the local GimBab shop, you might be lucky to get some Gimchi and sweet radish. In other places, side dishes may include baby crabs, (to be eaten whole of course), green mountain vegetables, small Pajeons, potatoes, salads... in fact anything is possible! In some places, the whole meal will consist of sidedishes with some soup and rice, (sometimes called a JeongSik). The best thing about side dishes is you can get a refill anytime! An empty dish won't be empty for long, as an eager waiter or waitress will come and fill it up.
Use the links above to navigate around the site. I'm slowly getting there... new dishes and pictures will be added soon!

Seafood and Eat It!
CheolPan NakJi JeongGul: Basically, raw octopus with various veg on a big square frying pan which is cooked at your table. Very spicy, and delicious with some Sea Acorns, (maybe). Sea Acorns look like little grey/brown brains and are very chewy and have water inside which squirts out when you chew them! Delicious!
